"Breakfast On Pluto The plot: Ireland, the 1970s. A misunderstood transvestite called Kitten dreams of finding his real mother, heading to London to track her down...

The verdict: A great performance from Cillian Murphy, last seen as Batman's nemesis The Scarecrow, is the main reason to watch this pretty, offbeat fairytale from director Neil Jordan.

Murphy is camp without being ridiculous, his dodgy 70s outfits just being the right side of believable and his smiley, whispery voice immediately winning you over to his cause of discovering exactly who he is.

Although Kitten's life is one of poverty and prejudice, Breakfast On Pluto is still wonderfully magical. Highlights of Kitten's journey through life include his relationship with an ageing magician (Stephen Rea) who makes him his assistant and Kitten's turn as a Womble, entertaining kiddywinks on Wimbledon Common.

Liam Neeson's hilarious turn as a lusty priest will also ruffle a few Catholic feathers.

Ultimately though this is a celebration of those who don't fit in, the outsiders whose weird and wonderful lives don't follow normal rules yet who still dream of the love and security. A must-see."(bbc,uk)

Aber wann wird dieser Film in Deutschlan gezeigt??? Wie kann ich es herausfinden, oder hat jemand von euch schon etwas davon gehört?

Auf "imdb" steht leider noch kein deutscher Starttermin.
Könnte also unter Umständen noch ein paar Jahre dauern.

Wer Velvet golmine mag, wird ihn lieben. (zwar spielt Brian Molko nicht mit, aber Cillian Murphy ist optisch auch nicht zu verachten )

"Velvet Goldmine" mochte ich ehrlich gesagt nicht, halte aber Neil Jordan für einen interessanten Filmemacher.

Was mochtest Du an dem Film nicht? Christian Bale war doch großartig. Oder magst du keine Musik aus den 70gern?

Die Musik fand ich toll und Christian Bale ist eigentlich immer großartig.
Auch Jonathan Rhys-Meyer hat mir gefallen, aber ich fand die Handlung einfach nicht interessant.
Sicher, der Film war nicht so auf Handlung aus wie z.B. auf Atmo und dergleichen. Aber trotzdem muss ich die relativ uninteressante Handlung bemängeln.

ok, wegen der fehlenden Handlung kann ich deine Meinung verstehen. Bin dennoch sehr fasziniert von dem Film.
Wundert mich, warum der nicht groß rausgekommen ist. Es spielen echt gute Schauspieler mit, nicht zu vergessen Ewan Mc Gregor und Tony Colette!
Aber ich denke das Sujet ist zu aussenseiter -mäßig gewesen.

Ich habe jetzt neue Informationen:

"Breakfast on Pluto" startet laut "Blickpunkt: Film" am 25. Mai, also in einem Monat.
Und im Astoria habe ich letztens sogar schon ein Plakat hängen sehen...

Yeah!
Und in der neuen Vogue stand auch schon was über b.o.p. drin!!!
